Dimple forming aesthetics is a procedure that has become popular in recent years. The natural dimple visible with a smile softens the facial features and is welcomed and liked by people.

 

Natural Dimple is caused by weakness in the chewing muscles of the cheek. While surgically creating a dimple, weakening is made at a planned point of the chewing muscle. Before dimple aesthetics, the location of the dimples on the cheek is determined together with the patient. With the incisions made through the mouth, a piece of the oral mucosa (wet skin inside) and cheek muscle is removed, the intended weakness is created there, and the incision is then sutured. Swelling and slight bruising may be observed for about 1 week after the surgery. Although the pain is expected for the first few days, it is not too bothersome. A dimple that appears with a smile is expected to occur after the swelling subsides, but some patients may occur a permanent dimple on the cheek after surgery.

 

This procedure, which takes 40-60 minutes, is performed under local anesthesia. The patient can leave the hospital on the same day and must use mouthwash for the first 3 days for oral cleaning.
